Who are we?
Findesk is a US based financial education website to help aspiring finance enthusiast understand complex financial jargons, concepts, and other topics in a plain, simple language. My professional qualifications are CFA, FRM and an accounting degree.
What is my background?
I am full time trader with prior experience in equity research and investment banking (debt-side) across leading banks.
As an equity analyst, my primary job was preparing financial models, and valuing companies using models like DCF, Relative and Asset based along with drafting detailed research reports. During my stint as an analyst, I identified companies with sustained competitive advantage and superior returns, free cash generation and accordingly graded them by looking at various aspects like financials, industries, and peers. I also learnt in depth accounting tricks used by companies to hide the true financial situation, identifying accounting red-flags, accounting shenanigans, and thereby restating my models to ascertain true earnings and quality of assets to compute actual financial position of the companies in my portfolio.
Post this stint, I worked with leading banks in their investment banking department where my role was all about raising debt and structuring deals for large projects. In my leisure time, I enjoy keeping a close tab on geo-politics and the shifting power dynamics in the global landscape. Further, I keep myself updated on the global markets and trends by reading a lot of financial magazines like Forbes, Economist among others.
What are my objectives?
I think we live in a world where there is very little awareness and in-depth understanding of financial concepts and topics. The knowledge available on the web barring few portals is very superficial and mostly esoteric which makes it difficult for a non-finance background person to understand which makes him depend on advisors and persons with conflicting interests. I intend to bridge this gap in my small endeavor.
